July 2014, alongside the Gatehouse
There is a medium to long-term plan to open up the Abbey gatehouse for viewing Abbey relics. To this end it was necessary to lay an electric cable to the gatehouse. This in turn necessitated an archaeological assessment and this was carried out in July 2014. A pit was dug to find out if it was possible to bring the mains in from the western side.
